Diego Tortelli’s creation Lorca sono tutti delves deep into the memory of one of the most famous Spanish mysteries. On a patch of land in the countryside of Andalusia, where the remains of the poet possibly lie buried beneath the hard and heavy clods of earth, an inscription among the olive trees reads: “everyone was Lorca” (“Lorca eran todos”).
In this production, Lorca is reborn as a narrator and as a character/interpreter of his own works, which endlessly explore the themes of mystery, love and death. The poet is given a new life, face, voice and identity, through a “body” made of bones concealing the “heart” of a fragmented “soul”.
Body, heart and soul are the central themes of the new creation directed by Tortelli, a fast-paced, many-jointed dance telling the tragic story of the missing body of the poet. The ‘joints’ in the dance are like hinges that move the body, just like verses interconnect to create the composition and movement in a poem.
